Our story
Founded by Katrina Fanning AO PSM, a proud Wiradjuri woman, advocate and trailblazer.
Katrina has led across community, sport, government and business, bringing lived experience, cultural authority and deep expertise. She has held senior public sector roles, led complex national initiatives, and driven strategic reform through leadership positions including General Manager at Aboriginal Hostels Limited and Head of Secretariat for the Coalition of Peaks on Closing the Gap.

Katrina serves on the boards of The Fred Hollows Foundation, Aboriginal Hostels Limited, Family of League Foundation and the Canberra Raiders, and has held leadership roles as the Chair of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Elected Body, Chair of the International Rugby League Women and Girls Advisory Group and as the former Chairperson of the Australian Rugby League Indigenous Council.

A former international rugby league player and pioneer for women in the sport, Katrina continues to champion Indigenous solutions and leadership that bridge worlds, strengthen communities and inspire systemic change. Her vision is simple but powerful: when systems work for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, they can work for everyone.
We listen first, learn from lived experience,
and let stories guide the way we work.
The meaning behind our logo
The name Coolamon Advisors is inspired by the Coolamon, a traditional Aboriginal carrying vessel used to carry babies, water and food, and hold what is precious. It reflects care, support, and the act of holding and sharing knowledge. For our founder, Katrina Fanning AO PSM, the Coolamon also carries personal significance, connecting her to where she is from, her family and the journey of walking between Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds.

Our logo captures Katrina’s story and values. It symbolises resilience, hope, and perseverance, and the importance of finding light even in the shadows. At its heart, the Coolamon represents community, nourishment, and opportunity, a space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and communities thrive, where dreams take flight, and were collective strength lifts people together.

The three flowing lines in the artwork represent the Macquarie, Murrumbidgee, and Lachlan Rivers of Wiradjuri Country. These rivers carry stories, sustain communities, and connect people across Country. They remind us to listen, respect, and work in ways that honour culture, knowledge, and relationships. They also reflect Katrina’s roots and the flow of life, knowledge, and opportunity that has shaped her journey.

The traveling lines also symbolise relationships and the support we provide to communities, governments, and organisations. They reach wide, reflecting the impact and empowerment that Coolamon Advisors delivers. Surrounding these lines, a series of interconnected circles and dots highlights the power of community, collaboration, and unity. The green tones in the logo evoke growth, healing, renewal, and harmony. Intertwined with the vessel and the lines, they depict strength, resilience and connection; a visual celebration of culture, history and hope.

In every detail, our logo tells a story of overcoming adversity, honouring heritage, and giving back to community. It is a tribute to Katrina’s upbringing in Wiradjuri Country in Junee, and to the nurturing spirit of Indigenous culture. The Coolamon embodies her uncle’s legacy, her own journey, and her commitment to uplifting others. In so many ways, Katrina herself has become a ‘Coolamon’ to others; nurturing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, businesses and communities to grow, thrive and rise.
