Examples of our work
Turning community insights into evidence-based, culturally informed solutions for the Australian Government Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
We conducted a culturally grounded evaluation of Mental Health First Aid training in Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island to assess relevance, impact, and sustainability for Warnindilyakwa communities. By co-designing the methodology with local leaders and embedding Indigenous researchers, we captured authentic community insights while respecting data sovereignty. The evaluation demonstrated significant improvements in mental health literacy, confidence, and early intervention behaviours, and provided practical recommendations for scaling and strengthening training in remote Aboriginal communities.

Bringing lived experience into policy to strengthen attendance and learning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for the Australian Government Department of Education and Training
We conducted in-depth social and behavioural research to understand the drivers of school attendance and non-attendance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across metropolitan, regional, and remote contexts. Using culturally appropriate methods and partnering with local Aboriginal researchers, we centred student, family, and community perspectives to uncover the social, cultural, and behavioural factors that influence attendance. The research provided evidence-based insights to shift policy from compliance-focused approaches to family- and community-centred strategies, informing national education reform and Closing the Gap initiatives.
